Mark B(11116): Hi, my name is Mark B(11116). How may I help you?
Richard: Hello! I have a problem with the wireless router
Richard: The problem is that i get a notices that a network cable is not connected
Mark B(11116): Can you please confirm the model number of your Linksys product?
Richard: it is c0onnected but every 3 sec it' unconnected
Richard: WRT54Gv5
Mark B(11116): And how many wired computers do you have?
Richard: just 1
Richard: if i try it on an other pc i get the same problem
Mark B(11116): And have you tried using different ports and cable?
Richard: yes of course
Mark B(11116): And did you reset the router?
Richard: yes i did, i even tried a new router, same problem
Richard: i cant get in the setup witin 3 seconds, even when i manually change the ip in f.i. 192.168.1.2
Mark B(11116): You tried another router and you got the same error on the computer?
Richard: yes sir
Mark B(11116): When you connect the computer to your modem direct, do you have the same problem?
Richard: no, that' why i'm on the internet...that works fine
Mark B(11116): What type of ethernet card is installed on your computer?
Richard: Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernetcard
Richard: but if i try on the wireless pc with a cable i get the same problem...
Mark B(11116): And what is the ethernet card on the wireless pc?
Richard: Linksys Wireless-G network adapter
Richard: the IP adress i get when connected 2 the router is 0.0.0.0 i think that is where the problem should be
Mark B(11116): Okay, let me explain it to you.
Mark B(11116): Linksys Wireless-G network adapter, is a wireless card,
Mark B(11116): and when a computer is wired in, it will use a wired ethernet card.
Mark B(11116): So when you say that you used another computer wired to the computer, and had the same problem, the Linksys Wireless-G network adapter is not the adapter used at that moment.
Richard: ok maybe it' another Ethernetcard there... but i don' think that' the cause of the problem
Mark B(11116): And the wireless router's LAN ports can only go to 100Mbps connection,
Mark B(11116): your ethernet card is a Gigabit card, which means its faster.
Richard: if i manage 2 get into the setup i think i can get the new firmware
Mark B(11116): If you manage to be connected to the router if your ethernet card works at 100Mbps and not 1000Mbps connection.
Mark B(11116): Then you can manage the router.
Richard: ok so i have the downgrade my system to be able 2 use a linksys product?
Mark B(11116): Set your Gigabit card to function or to run the speed of 100Mbps, then you can set up the router.
Richard: weird because used this product for 2 or 3 months now and most of the time it wasn't a problem
Richard: ok i'l try
Mark B(11116): Do you have other Linksys device that I can help you with, or would that be it for now?
Richard: no other product are working just fune tnx
